ピアニスト小川典子がKingsplaceで義援金支援コンサートを開催します！

英国在住のピアニスト小川典子は、今回の大震災が発生した時、日本に帰国しておりました。小川自身は神奈川県の自宅近くにいた事から、直接的に被災はしていませんが、実際に地震の恐怖を体験し、また連日の報道から悲惨な被災地の状況を見ているうちに、胸がしめつけられる思い強くなってきました。
また彼女がホールアドバイザーを務める、愛すべきミューザ川崎シンフォニーホールは、地震の被害を受け、この先しばらくの間全ての公演がキャンセルになってしまいました。実際、小川が出演を予定にしていた公演も、キャンセルになりました。
小川が在住している英国はもちろん、世界中でこの惨事はニュースとして連日伝えられ、彼女のもとにもたくさんのお見舞いや心配の声が寄せられていました。
小川は、４月上旬まで、英国と米国でラジオ番組出演、リサイタル、協奏曲の予定を抱えており、２０日に渡英の予定です。しかし、この状況の中、日本を出国することに、大きなためらいを感じていました。その心情を吐露したところ、英国ガーディアン紙編集長のAlan Rusbridger 氏より「コンサートを開きなさい」との後押しを得、まずは自分が在住している英国・ロンドンの人々に訴え、義援金を集めるべくコンサートを開催する事を決意、決定致しました。

Dear Friends,

Today, I have decided to do a Fundraising Recital at Kings Place London on Wednesday the 30th of March.
All details are to be announced shortly.

I know this is a very, very short notice.  But please come and give your generous support to the people in North East of Japan.  They have lost not only their property but also their loved ones.  The people at evacuation centres, mainly state schools, are suffering so very much in cold weather (is it snowing there today) with not enough food or blankets.  Doctors and nurses who have no home or families to go back to are treating wounded people with great shortage of medicine.  

I was on a platform waiting for the train when the earthquake came.  I am still in Japan which is still having tremor very often.  We are trying to fight against this difficult situation.  In Tokyo Metropolitan area, we have scheduled power cuts and very reduced transport services to save electricity.  Many concert halls have been damaged in this area, too.  We are trying to cooperate, but there are limited things we can do here.  People are feeling down.  Concerts and sport events are massively cancelled due to shortage of electricity.  I was in two minds about going back to the UK this time, so wanted to stay here and work for the people in worst affected areas.  Now, this fundraising concert is giving me a reason to jump on the plane.
